In the German translation they sometimes say the evil monsters had been sent by frankenstein. Of course without frankenstein ever shown up.
As far as I know the reason for the strange names was great success of the movie “Frankenstein Conquers the World” in Germay. Afterwards they simply wrote Frankenstein in each title so the people thought it would be a sequel

This group is named after their armament, a throwing axe called “Franziska”. Even the (Anglo)saxons are named after their armament, a sword named “Saxon”.
