Genesis was always better than SNES, but that thing there is not really any good. It’s a system-on-chip or in otherwords, it’s an emulator in a box. I believe the NES Classic is as well, although I’m not actually sure about that. I haven’t looked into it.

Anyway, since you can already get a working Genesis for $20-30 I would go with that personally. Sure, you would have to buy those pack-in games separately, but it will be a better quality experience.

Long time fan of the site, been enjoying everything (almost, not really a fan of TaG to be honest) that you guys put out over the years. Figured I would chime in here though, as retro gaming is something I really enjoy as well. I recently cleaned out my collection as we were moving, so I ended up finally parting ways with my several consoles and game collection…kind of a bummer but I was able to work out something that, for me anyways, works much better. I’ve had a Raspberry Pi since they were released and just recently got a Pi3, which is a newer, more robust version of the original. I use it primarily to run RetroPie/Emulation Station – https://retropie.org.uk/ Quite simply, I realize this is emulation so some collectors might not be as enthused about it as I am, but realistically you can purchase the hardware for under $100 (for a pi, micro sd card, USB stick, and wired xbox 360 controller…everything you need) and you have a machine with HDMI out that can emulate and run everything from old Macintosh games up to at least PS1 (I haven’t tried PS2 yet, but I think it can probably do it). But yeah, NES, Master System, Genesis, SNES, N64, and PS1 all flawlessly. I think the re-release of these old systems is neat and all, but for a budget conscious retrogamer I really don’t think there is a better deal. Thought I would mention it, might be something you guys would find interesting.

Yeah, you could easily just download emulators for your PC and play every single game, but it seems more convenient this way.
