I’m not at all familiar with the original, but from what I’m know of, there are a lot of similarities such as an android girl and a high-tech city with a distinct class division. It is an anime movie, so I don’t expect many who visit this site to particularly like it, but a lot of Tezuka’s work is amazing such as Astro Boy and Black Jack.

Basically the US just decided to finally honor their native copyrights.
