Han does it in empire to cut open the Tauntaun. Many other no-force people use them in some of the books. Its no different than a real sword. Anyone can pick up a real sword and swing it and so to a saber. However with the force a person is able to use it much better. Also you guys talk about Kylo’s mask having no purpose. Well just as the appearance of Han, the Millennium Falcon, and others is a nod to movie fans so to is the mask to old and new cannon fans. Many non film sith characters use them and Kylo’s mask greatly resembles one of the most popular book characters. His name is Revan. Revan has been in several books and many video games. You guys should no this .

If R2 was captured the empire would not know the true location. Also she NEVER tells TArkin to go to Alderaan. He just goes there as a means to get the trueth.

Maybe your not a parent so it may not have crossed your mind. But he risked his life in an attempt to help save his son. That is HEROIC. He new his son was evil. He new his son could easily kill him yet he put his sons well being ahead of his own. Is’nt that what hero’s do? Place others above themselves.

Slow reply but this is such a baseless stupid argument. Its not a new hope by any stretch of the imagination. Also apart from an amazing homage to original fans born during that era (yes I remember seeing it in the movie theatre), it also brings to life a franchise that almost died at the hands of George Lucas and brings it to a new generation. Wow, I mean I loved it, you are completely entitled to your opinion although the comment and reference is ridiculous. I mean A New Hope didn’t have half the excitement and action that the new one had. Bland characters? Wow, can I ask what more they could have done to impress you? Maybe star wars 1, 2 and three were more up your ally, ridiculous over the top characters and crappy CGI may suit you better!

It was not original at all and what happend to the lightsaber I don’t know. Everyone else that’s a fan boy for this movie think it is so great. I can’t stand people not being original with a story line. I’m sorry this “movie” is another new hope.

I give this star wars movie 2/10 because I feel like there was no original idea in this whole movie, some parts but they were not good ones to continue this great movie time line. I do not pay any atention to any of the books at all with this time line. This is going to shit just because of Disney taking over the greatest movie saga ever. That’s my say I won’t change what I feel. This will be the begin of a fall of a great saga. I’m sorry you had to read my thoughts of this movie but it will be shit one day.

That’s Grandpa’s Little Boy! Kill those younglings! Yeah! YEAH!!

I feel like this whole Vader worship thing is bullshit. Vader turned back to the light, he’s a force ghost now. You would think at some point he’d make himself appear and say “That’s not what I want for you!” But no. So…yeah…not a huge fan of the Vader worship sub-plot…

Han Solo in Empire and General Grievous in Clone Wars. Both used it like any other sharp sword; Han to cut something open and Grievous as a trained and skilled swordsman.
