For me it was every Friday morning for the majority of the series. The CGI was considered subpar because it was dated, it was a TV show with a limited budget and this debuted the same month as N64’s release to North America. The story was awesome, I remember when I had a beast wars action figure, I brought it to school during recess to play with on my own. Many other students who were also fans noticed this and started to bring their own too, we eventually had an entire squad of both teams able to duke it out.

and B: they kidnap optimus Prime’s BODY (not his head mind you) and repurpose it into a non-transforming alligator robot?

I hate to pull this card, but it seems like James and Mike cling to nostalgia a bit too much at times.

There were lots of awesome moments in the old cartoons, and there were lots of these as well. Thanks for the video!

The first season cost about 20 million to make. It won an Emmy for its production. Yes its dated but thats pretty normal for most cartoons.

I told him about how G1 was written solely to sell toys, and how Donald F. Glut (who incidentally wrote the novelization of The Empire Strikes Back) was particularly disenchanted by the experience of writing for G1 because the studio didn’t care about quality scripts, they just wanted any script as fast as they could be written. Whereas Beast Wars’ writers cared very strongly about the scriptwriting. James seemed interested, but whether or not he’ll actually check Beast Wars out, I can’t say.
