I undestand, especially since that instruction is not quite right. I could tell you the correct pronunciation if I could say it aloud to you but it is a little hard to describe it by writing. Anyway, it is not really that difficult to research the matter yourself and find out the answer, since “ryu” is not only a name but a pretty common word in Japanese, too.

It is not relevant how old the expert is if he or she is right — and Tross is. It does not matter how many different opinions there are about pronouncing Ryu’s name, as there is only one correct one. It a bit difficult to describe simply by writing but the name is pronounced just like the English word “you” but with half-sharp “r” sound in front of it.

Not to put DKC or Clayfighter on the same level. Much of Clayfighter’s artwork did indeed exist in the 3D world as real clay models, which were photographed and scanned and edited.

Whereas most of DKC’s artwork existed purely in an array of SGI computers (modelled, animated, and rendered via Alias PowerAnimator, the precursor to Maya).

A better analogy is between Clayfighter and Mortal Kombat, as both used real-world models (whether clay or real people). Heck, MK used clay figures, too (Goro, Sheeva, Kintaro, Motaro…).

Pryde of the Xmen was indeed circa 1988, but the Konami arcade game was an early 1990s cabinet.

The Konami character roster includes folks rarified in the later 1990s cartoon series (Dazzler, Nightcrawler, Colossus). Definitely based on a slightly different period of the X-Men comic.

In general, the Genesis version of a game is always inferior to the SNES version, except in cases where Nintendo forced censorship on their version such as with MK games.
