It was a great ending to the Ripley story. I love that they had the balls to kill Newt and Hicks off so abruptly. I liked them but they were not that interesting truth be told and existed to develop Ripleys character. They served their purpose. Ripley being isolated and alone, losing everything yet again due to the Xenomorphs really hits home the threat they pose. No one survives encountering the Aliens, not even Ripley eventually. If one woman can continue to survive the Alien then where is the real threat if they get to earth? If one woman can deal with the over and over then the military would have no problem. They needed to kill Ripley off. her story was told and it keeps the Xenos as a true threat that need to be stopped from ever reaching earth. I love the music in this film too, so beautiful yet dark and tragic. Very fitting.

Regarding the alien effects I guess the part of it that stands out the most has got to do with the color key in the alien not matching the color key in the environment. Thats why every time you see a sequence shot on a green background you get that weird look that spells: “there is something off here”.

The fact it side stepped that crap Aliens was a great move.

It’s a shame Fincher has turned his back on it, I know there were many, many problems during production…but there is still a great film there regardless.
If only Fincher could have made the film his way…
