I remember the rental shelf of my local Circle K growing up, as well as grocery stores like Albertson’s having a rental section. There was also a Movie Gallery chain in my local Wal-Mart.

I never got into Netflix do mostly for wanting the DVD or Blu-ray versions. Netficks, YouTube and Hulu are badly in need of help do to the newer 4K videos could only be passes on read only BD-XL disks do thing’s like 1GB per minute of video. Bad if like me if had AT&T’s funking 150GB Internet cap.

That was the first time I saw the extended cut of that film too.

I’m not positive since a few stores still have the sign out front and shelves but are closed with no movies when you get off the road and into the strip mall.

I still stop in from time to time, just to buy as they have good to great prices on used DVDs and video games as they buy and resell.

While not straight up grocery, I had two general stores in our area that carried VHS tapes and basically what your average convience store carries as well as a food area where you could get hoagies, ice cream, pizza, etc. When we moved when I was 14, the one was within walking distance and I could rent older movies for 99 cents so it was great. I spent a lot of weekends buying bottles of Moxie soda and renting 99 cent Miramax movies. I still remember renting Pulp Fiction when I was 14. Noone in there seemed to care about renting me Rated R movies compared to Blockbuster.
