After having a few beers while listening to this podcast. I built up the balls to watch the first Nightmare on Elm Street film.

Before this podcast 1 year ago, I was a total coward when it came to things that were scary. I hated horror movies because they always affected me on a deep level. I did not get any enjoyment out of horror films because they would cause my imagination to go wild and disturb my sleep.

I listened to this podcast, then said fuck it, time to man up. The first Elm Street movie happened to be on Netflix, so I watched it. And you know what? I loved it. Maybe it was the alcohol, but I like to attribute it more to experiencing your films and listening to your words that made me man up and become more interested in horror films.

One of my favorite films of all time now is Halloween. It is up there with American Movie and Ed Wood as my all time favorites. I would never have had the inspiration and backbone to discover the horror genre if it wasn’t for this podcast and your work as a film maker, James.

I’m really glad you re-posted this, because this podcast means a lot to me. I actually remember the day it came out last year. I had just gotten a 1-year Xbox Live subscription so I could watch stuff on Netflix. Had I never listened to this podcast, it would have significantly altered my taste in movies. I would have never discovered the cheesy campiness of Freddy and Jason films, and I never would have experienced the artistic Halloween films.

In summary, thank you James for everything you have done. I don’t know if you realize how much of an impact your voice and work has on people, but you have definitely changed my life for the better.

I appreciate getting to hear the answers to the questions they asked you – I always wondered if you had to do these daily or started them early every year to give us Monster Madness!

I really got into it this year, in the last 2 weeks I have watched ALL the old Universal Monster flicks except for “Son of Dracula/House of Dracula” (haven’t got my hands on them yet) THEY ARE NOW MY FAVORITE FILMS (next to Star Trek)

Thanks for making me a fan. Keep up all the great things you do!

PS- Doctor Pretorious (Bride of Frankenstein) is the Best “Mad Scientist” role I have ever seen. So glad to discover it.

Although you guys were REALLY harsh with the remake. It wasn’t particularly good, but it wasn’t horrible, at least in my opinion. As a Freddy movie it doesn’t hold up AT ALL, but I thought it was entertaining.

But I agree, the new Freddy was very weak. Not scary at all, not insane enough, and doesn’t seem to enjoy the killing… which was the very reason Freddy became my favorite horror villain.

So overall I thought it was okay (and waaaaaaay better than the boring Halloween remake), but not on par.
