Can’t wait to see the winners and get my hands on the app!

BTW are you guys going to do a post showing all the contest entries, or at least a decent number of runner ups?

As an Android developer, I would be interested in doing this app for Android if you would be interested. Not looking to get paid or anything, it would just be nice for all us Android people.

Basically, I would just need your support in the form of “go for it!” I’d give you veto if it’s not good enough, that sort of thing.

I’m on GTalk using brent.rittenhouse@gmail.com if you wanna discuss, axe me anything, tell me I’m good to go, etc..

My old macbook couldn’t run Portal because it was pre-nvidia. Some PC’s didn’t have enough RAM for Vista. The G1 Android phone is too slow to run Angry Birds. The iPhone 3G can’t run iOS4 too well. Some websites only work in IE.

We all live in a fragmented world, and we do just fine. Why is this suddenly a problem when people talk about Android?”

Progress of technology naturally means tat ole harraste does not run new software well. And iPhone 3G is about three year old device. But the problem with Android is that its fragmented right from the start. Different screens, memory, form-factors etc. Even different versions of the OS. And since software-updates to Android-devices are spotty at best, those devices might be stuck with that old OS for a very long time.

Sure, computers have the same problem. But we are not talking about computers, we are talking about phones and other such devices. And no, we are not doing “just fine”. We just might be willing to live with it. well, others might not be, like John Carmack, who doesn’t develop for Andoid because of the issues. Rovio does live with it, but they too had to jump through hoops.

What I’m saying here are just facts. This isn’t meant as an attack against Android (which has many positive qualities).

Okay… I guess that makes sense. Android and BlackBerry tablet users don’t really need an app because they can just use the website.

Still, it would be nice to have an app for BlackBerry phones and older Android phones. As an added bonus, they wouldn’t take four months to develop.

The Cinemassacre app isn’t like a game, it could probably run just fine on any smart phone.
