Either way nice cameo James especially with “the frown”.

So what’s the problem? Like other people noted, this is people eating after a Church service. My church does the same thing (in fact I’ve yet to find one that doesn’t). Where’s the insult? What’s the problem?

This PC crap is driving me batty!

What was so offensive about it? I am a devoted Catholic. I converted to Catholicism when I was 23 and I am now 37. I know my catechism, my papal law, my history and yes, my scriptural studies and philosophical literature (Ancient Near Eastern, Hellenic, Medieval, Renaissance AND Contemporary) .

Hence, I can say with some measure of authority, that there is nothing, absolutely nothing, in this commercial that is even remotely close to being considered blasphemous by even the most relentless of naysayers . I think madthedj in the comments before said it best.

We are most likely seeing people who came to the church just to eat. That’s not insulting, that’s a proud tradition of the Church since it’s earliest days: feeding the community, especially those who would otherwise not eat at all (the homeless) after Mass.

I go to a small Catholic church and we always offer baked goods, snacks, sandwiches and drink for everybody after the services, including, yes, doritos and soda.

This is PC gone horribly wrong (and PC is already wrong enough).

As St. Simeon once said, “I am not upset when people raise their hands at me, nor do I tremble when the mighty point their fingers at me. But when I am silenced or am prevented from speaking at all, I weep. Not for my sake. But for the sake of those I could fill with joy but was unable to and the sake of those I could fill with hope but was unable to. For in such a strange time, the most terrifying thing to a just and righteous man, is the threat of silence.”

Here is my idea: I got a cousin in Philly who is opening up a comic shop and he might be interested in hiring your services to give some nerd cred to his first batch of commercials.
